Question: What kind of fuels are you working on.

Keywords:

  1. I work on jet and diesel fuels used my the Australian Defence Forces. These fuels are used to power our planes, helicopters and ships. The main part of my work is looking at the way these fuels degrade over time, and when they exposed to high temperatures in the engines as there are a few problems that can occur which make the engines less efficient and more prone to breaking down.

Some of the newer types of fuel I am working on come from alternatively derived sources. We have fuels made from plant and algae oils, animal fats, and also synthetic fuels made from gases like methane, or even alcohol. In the last few years we have been starting to see some aircraft run on fuels made up from a mixture of conventional and alternatively derived fuels.
